Self-confidence is your belief in yourself, your abilities and your skills. You have a positive view of yourself and you know your strengths and weaknesses. You accept and trust yourself. Some benefits of self-confidence: better performance, healthy relationships, resilience and openness to try new things.

Below are suggestions on how an individual can build their self-confidence:

  1. Take care of yourself. Self-care can help you feel happier and more confident with who you are.
  2. List your accomplishments. Being aware of your accomplishments can help build your self-confidence and help you feel more prepared to take on new challenges.
  3. Letting go of negativity. Negativity can inhibit your ability to grow.
  4. Positive thinking. Focus on why you can succeed.
  5. Pushing your comfort zone. By pushing your comfort zone, you can accomplish things you never thought were possible and in turn you can be more confident in your capabilities.
  6. Set realistic goals. This might involve going out of your comfort zone. When you can achieve something, your self-confidence can improve.
